Some Hints on Using Acrobat Reader.

Acrobat gives the user the ability to see the Silvicultural Guide in the exact page format as the printed version. The page numbers correspond directly to the print version, not to the page numbers at the bottom of the screen. Those numbers refer to the pages in the file you are viewing.

Acrobat and the pertinent file is loaded automatically by your browser. Acrobat can load and display multiple files in the same manner as a word processor using small windows and switching files in the Window command.

The standard cursor in Acrobat is a hand symbol

Bookmarks: When a file loads it will present a menu - or bookmarks - on the left side of the screen. These act as a menu to the contents of that file. If the bookmarks don't appear, click on the bookmark symbol to the right of the printer symbol in the toolbar.

Hyperlinks: Certain references in the Guide, especially tables, contain direct hyperlinks from the text to the table. These are marked with broken (dashes) blue boxes in the text. After viewing a table use the arrow keys to return to the root of the link.

Page and Type Size: The three page symbols in the toolbar are convenient methods of changing the size of the type. If necessary you can use the magnifying glass symbol to increase and decrease type size.

Page Rotate: Use the "page rotate" symbols to view charts.
